Hassan Ahmad endorsement

STERLING – Today Delegate Hala Ayala (D-51) announced her endorsement of Hassan Ahmad in the Democratic primary race for the Virginia House of Delegates in District 87.

“I’ve been an advocate all of my life. From women’s rights and the Equal Rights Amendment, to cyber security and healthcare, I have been fighting for all Virginians to have the opportunity to succeed. We need more advocates in Richmond who care about their communities, and have deep ties to the district they seek to represent. Hassan’s wife and three children have lived in Sterling for over a decade. He was a steadfast ally during our push for the ERA this legislative session and has been a tireless advocate for those who have been left on the margins. This is why I am proud to endorse Hassan Ahmad in his bid for the Democratic nomination for the Virginia House of Delegates in District 87,” said Delegate Ayala.

“I am truly humbled by Delegate Ayala’s support. I have long admired her dedication and doggedly positive attitude. Her unwillingness to let her struggles, or others, define her is a remarkable quality that manifests in her tenacious approach towards legislating. I’m looking forward to working together this year to defend her seat and to win a Democratic majority in the legislature,” said Ahmad.

The Democratic primary for the 87th House of Delegates District will be held on June 11th.

Delegate Ayala and Ahmad will be participating in joint activities throughout the campaign to work towards her re-election effort and help Democrats win the majority in 2019.

Delegate Hala Ayala has been a member of the Prince William County community for over 35 years and was elected to represent the 51st District in Virginia House of Delegates in 2017. She is a cybersecurity expert and served as the chief co-patron of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) during the 2019 legislative session.

Hassan Ahmad is an immigration attorney, a twelve year resident of Sterling, Virginia, and a Democratic candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates, District 87
